GVA Redilco’s Logistics & Industrial Team has advised Rohlik, one of Europe’s leading online grocery delivery services, for the lease of their first fulfillment centre in Milan, Italy.
The asset – managed by Kryalos SGR on behalf of pan-European urban logistics platform Crossbay – comprises approx. 5,000 sqm and sits in via Fantoli within the C.A.M.M. Consorzio Autostazione Merci Milano. This location is highly strategic for an operator like Rohlik, given its distance of only 6 km from the city center and the close proximity to Milan’s Eastern Ringroad and Linate international airport.
Rohlik was founded seven years ago and, following the last round of funding, is now valued at over €1 billion, becoming a true European “unicorn” and in the process growing from a Czech start-up into a European trend-setting technology leader with a growing presence across the continent. During this period, it became the largest online supermarket in the Czech Republic. Having already successfully expanded to Hungary, Austria and Germany, Rohlik will start delivering goods from its Milanese warehouse at the beginning of 2022. The mission of enabling Europeans to Eat Well and Live Well will also spread to Romania, France and Spain with the goal of becoming the leading European online grocery delivery service. The company’s passion for customer experience is reflected in every step of the ordering and delivery process; from the broad and unique assortment, with more than 17,000 items to choose from, through online customer ordering and excellent customer service to the superior delivery experience. Rohlik is constantly optimizing delivery timing windows, currently aiming for as little as ninety minutes in some countries after ordering with an astonishing accuracy of 15-minute delivery windows across all markets.
“Online grocery purchases in Italy grew significantly during the coronavirus pandemic and are expected to maintain this upward trend, which, in turn, is driving the last mile logistics sector. We are thrilled to be advising Rohlik on their European expansion strategy and look forward to their continued growth in our country and beyond” commented Alfredo Mauri, Head of Logistics & Industrial at GVA Redilco, on Rohlik’s Italian market entry.
According to Ladislav Bárta, Head of International Expansion at Rohlik, “We are pleased to have found a reliable partner who understood not only our business needs, but also our entrepreneurial spirit and our need for flexible approaches and creative solutions.”
