Dils alongside the Cieli Azzurri Foundation to humanise the paediatric areas of the new Policlinico of Milan

A hospital environment capable of reassuring, welcoming and caring—also through beauty—is the goal of Illumina la Cura (Illuminate Care), the project promoted by the Cieli Azzurri Foundation and presented last night in the evocative Sala del Codex Atlanticus at the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana. Dils has chosen to support the initiative, taking part in the event that marks the official start of the fundraising campaign.

The intervention, part of the Operating Block of the new Policlinico of Milan, aims to transform paediatric spaces into welcoming, reassuring environments. Nature-inspired shapes, soft colours, warm lighting, relaxing sounds and immersive technologies will help reduce anxiety and foster the physical and psychological well-being of young patients and their families.

Illumina la Cura seeks to make every moment of care a more human experience, where beauty becomes an integral part of the therapeutic journey. The project involves three paediatric operating theatres, five gynaecological theatres and three theatres dedicated to obstetric surgery, all located on the second floor of the new hospital platform.

Active for more than thirty years in paediatric and neonatal surgery, the Cieli Azzurri Foundation promotes a model of care that combines clinical excellence with a focus on the human dimension, improving the hospital experience not only for children but also for their companions and healthcare staff.

The Policlinico of Milan—the city’s oldest hospital—is undergoing a profound transformation. The Foundation’s intervention is part of the new Sforza Pavilion, now nearing completion and scheduled to open in November 2025. The complex comprises two seven-storey blocks flanking a central structure that will house 21 operating theatres and an 8,000 sqm therapeutic roof garden. This project blends innovation, care and openness to the city, envisioning healthcare that is ever more human and inclusive.

Illumina la Cura falls under the This is my Milano programme, through which Dils supports non-profit organisations active in the city’s neighbourhoods. The initiative perfectly embodies the company’s commitment to social responsibility: caring for the community and enhancing identity-defining places with innovative, experimental projects.
