69 Rokin is a monumental building located in a prominent location at 69 Rokin, in the heart of the Amsterdam city center, between Muntplein and Dam Square. The building was designed in 1901 by architect Gerrit van Arkel as the headquarters of The Marine Insurance Company Ltd. Although the style is often described as 'sober Art Nouveau', the architecture is inspired by the Dutch architect Berlage.
Over the years, the building has undergone various renovations, during which the impressive original features have been preserved. The most recent renovation focused on preserving and restoring all authentic and architectural elements, while creating transparency in the building. The interior combines new materials such as glass and metal in a modern palette with the warm colors of the authentic terrazzo and wooden floors, resulting in a minimalist yet timeless look with contemporary comfort and the charm of the history of Rokin 69.
ENVIRONMENT
The surroundings of Rokin 69 are lively, with a rich variety of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Hotels such as the W Amsterdam Hotel and Soho House Amsterdam are just a few minutes' walk away. Nearby dining establishments include Ron Gastrobar Downtown, The Lobby Nesplein, The Siren, The White Room restaurant and Mr Porter.
ACCESSIBILITY
Rokin 69 is excellently accessible by public transport, car and bike/scooter. The building is located a short distance from various exits of the A10 ring road (S100 - S112), making cities such as Utrecht, The Hague and Rotterdam reachable within 25, 35 and 45 minutes respectively. Public transport is also well represented, with the Rokin tram stop (served by lines 4, 12, 14 and 24) right in front of the building. In addition, the North-South Line (metro line 52) offers a fast connection, making Rokin 69 accessible in less than 10 minutes from Amsterdam Zuid station. Schiphol Airport is approximately 30 minutes away by car and can be reached by public transport in just 20 minutes.
